FCPA Announces First 6 IT Certification Exams

Successfully passing a performance-based exam would enable recognition as a Field Certified Professional (FCP) and utilization of the FCP credential. FCPA and its sponsoring companies believe the FCPÔ will become a highly prestigious certification distinguishing the holders from the multitudes of IT professionals who hold only paper-based certifications.
The FCP designation is currently available to IT professionals who have successfully achieved a performance-based certification recognized by FCPA. At present, these include Cisco's CCIE, Novell's CDE, and Red Hat's RHCE.
Professionals who already hold these certifications can apply directly to FCPA to become an FCP under the association's Pre-Qualification Program. Details are available at the Field Certified Professional Association Web site. FCPA is evaluating other performance-based certifications for official recognition and acceptance into the Pre-qualification Program.
FCPA has also established a Fast Track Program for experienced IT professionals with current non-performance-based certifications. Candidates with current A+, CNA, CNE, MCSE 4, or CCNA status and at least three years of direct work experience since receiving their credential could qualify for a condensed Field Certification examination.
As part of the launch of the 6 new exams, FCPA is offering a 20% discount for professionals registering by August 31, 2002.
