CompTIA to Hold Tech Summit in October

CompTIA will host Tech Summit near Washington, D.C., in October.

Have you, like Aaron Burr in the landmark Broadway musical Hamilton, ever wanted to be in "the room where it happens?" "No one really knows how the game is played / The art of the trade / How the sausage gets made / We just assume that it happens / But no one else is in / The room where it happens."

Only a select few ever find themselves in the unique position described in the song, but policy leads to deal-making, and policies are created from discussion and ideas. And there are lots of places where any number of people can go to observe and even participate in the process of generating and discussing ideas.

One of those is the upcoming CompTIA Tech Summit, to be held Oct. 17 and 18 at National Harbor in Maryland, adjacent to Washington, D.C. Tech industry association CompTIA will host the two-day gathering, formerly dubbed the State Tech Summit, at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor.

The purpose of Tech Summit is to drive discussion of technology innovation and public policy, bringing together insights from business leaders, government officials, and IT innovators. CompTIA regularly addresses government agencies and legislators, and Tech Summit is one of the pools from which tech talking points emerge.

In 2018, technology is tied up in almost every aspect of daily life. As noted at the Tech Summit website, "Tech policy issues cut across state, federal, and international boundaries as well as help steer public sector markets and sales strategies."

The two-day Tech Summit timetable include a mix of keynote addresses, panel discussions, networking breaks, and official business items. There will also be an All Star Champions Cocktail Reception to cap off Day 1, and a silver-anniversary celebration of CompTIA's Human Services IT Advisory Group (HSITAG) on Day 2.

Registration and attendance are free to CompTIA members, and non-members can get a fat break on the cost of attending Tech Summit by rolling it into an annual CompTIA membership fee. In addition to it many other functions, CompTIA administers a fistful of the most popular certifications in the entire IT industry.

Complete details of Tech Summit, including registration and a full schedule, are available online.
