Right now there are over 500 active IT‑related certifications from more than 100 vendors. That’s a lot of opportunity waiting to be leveraged.
With all the choices that exist, there is certain to be a certification that is a good match for almost any career, whether it be entry‑level or expert, system administrator, programmer or ERP expert. Unfortunately the bounty brings with it a ready supply of potentially expensive and time‑wasting mistakes as well. The mistakes may be made by certification candidates through choosing the wrong certification or preparing inadequately for an exam; they are made by certification program vendors that change their certification structure too frequently or fail to keep their program abreast of technological developments, and by training vendors who neglect to update their materials to reflect the latest certification requirements or testing methodologies.
This is a place to discuss these shortcomings, maximize the strengths, and protect, promote, and optimize IT certification. Certification can help us do our current job better, prepare us for new duties, make us more marketable, and provide us with a blueprint for learning something new, but only if the certification marketplace continues to be dedicated to those goals.
To that end, this blog was created to provide a place to discuss all things certification – from protecting and enhancing the value of certification, to the latest beta opportunities that can save you a few $, to how to choose self‑study materials. We already have several industry experts lined up who are ready to share their insider knowledge and plan to have even more in the near future.
Welcome to the GoCertify certification blog!
