Certification Summary:
For junior-level project managers who contribute to a project team as a sunject matter expert. CAPMs assume full or partial responsibility for for individual project tasks in their areas of expertise.
Initial requirements:
You must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and fulfill a secondary education requirement. You must also have at least 1,500 hours of project management experience or 23 hours of formal project management education. You must then submit an application and pass the CAPM exam ($300). The exam has a three hour time limit and consists of 150 questions.
There is a discount for PMI members.
Continuing requirements:
After 5 years you must either apply for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or retake the CAPM exam and pay the renewal fee ($300).
