Certification Summary: For computer professionals who wish to demonstrate expert network engineering skills and mastery of Cisco products and solutions. This top-of-the-line certification is for individuals who work specifically with Cisco products. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is the highest level of technical networking certification offered by Cisco. Long-time CCIEs (>10 years) can apply for the CCIE Emeritus designation.
Initial requirements:
There are seven tracks to choose from: Routing and Switching, Security, Service Provider, Service Provider Operations, Storage Networking, Voice and Wireless. You must first pass a two-hour written qualification exam ($350) and then the corresponding eight-hour hands-on lab exam ($1400) for your chosen track. The hands-on lab exam must be first attempted within 18 months of passing the written CCIE exam. If you do not pass the lab exam within 3 years of passing the written exam, you must take the written exam again.
CCIE Emeritus status is available to individuals who have held the CCIE designation for more than 10 years. There is no exam associated with Emeritus status, but you must submit an application to Cisco and pay an $85 annual fee.
Continuing requirements:
You must complete one CCIE or CCDE written exam within the 24 month period immediately preceding your current recertification deadline. Having an active CCIE or CCDE certification automatically extends your active Associate, Professional, Specialist, and Expert level certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.
A complete CCIE combo training pack that contains videos for CCIE Certification Package and CCIE Video Practice Lab is available available from our partner CBT Nuggets.
