Certification Summary:
For individuals who have knowledge of systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography and organizational security.
Initial requirements:
You must pass the Security+ exam ($258). The exam has a 90 minute time limit and consists of 100 questions. A passing score of 750, on a scale of 100 - 900, is required. Training is available but not required.
Continuing requirements:
If you earn or have earned this certification before Dec 31, 2010, your certification never has to be renewed and stays valid for life. As of January 1, 2011, certifications earned are valid for 3 years and must be renewed to remain valid after that, either by passing the most current exam for the certification or by earning credits through CompTIA’s upcoming continuing education program.
