Certification Summary:
For individuals who are able to perform with assistance/supervision, with a wide range of appropriate skills, as a contributing specialist. This certification is skills and experience-based and goes beyond validating the mastery of any specific knowledge base. You must possess a set of core foundation skills in addition to your client and technical focus skills. This is level 1 of the Certified IT Specialist program.
Initial requirements:
You must complete the IT Specialist certification package and application documenting your core foundation skills and your client and technical focus skills ($1250). You must then pass an interview by a board of Certified IT Specialists.
You must have 5 years of IT work experience within the last 8 years, with at least one example being in the last 3 years. You must have 3 years of work experience within your technical and client focus in the last 5 years, with at least one example being in the last 3 years. You must have acted in the role of IT Specialist within your stream in 2 successful engagements.
There is an annual fee of $175.
Continuing requirements:
You must recertify every three years ($450).
