Certification Summary:
The CompTIA Linux+, Powered by LPI is for individuals who want to validate the fundamental knowledge and skills required of junior Linux administrators. Earning CompTIA Linux+ is a stepping stone to vendor-specific training, such as Oracle Certified Associate and Novell SUSE Linux programs. Because this certification uses the same tests as the LPIC-1 by LPI, you can also qualify for LPIC-1 certification at the same time.
Initial requirements:
You must pass two exams, LX0-101 and LX0-102 ($239 each). Exams consist of 60 questions each and have a 90 minute time limit. A passing score of 500 on a scale of 200-800 is required. Training is available but not required. If you wish to parlay this certification into an LPIC-1 certification, make sure you ask for your records to be forwarded the the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) when you take the exams.
Continuing requirements:
None at the moment, but CompTIA recently enacted recertification requirements for some of its other entry level certifications, so they may be forthcoming for this one as well.
