Certification Summary: For individuals who are responsible for the logical and physical design, implementation, maintenance and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Initial requirements: Must pass three core exams ($375) and one elective exam ($125). The core exams include one SQL Server administration exam (EITHER 70-028: Administering Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 OR 70-228: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition) and one SQL Server design exam (EITHER 70-029: Designing and Implementing Databases with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 OR 70-229: Designing and Implementing Databases with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition), plus EITHER a Windows 2000 exam (70-215: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server) OR a Windows Server 2003 exam (Exam 70–290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment OR Exam 70–291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure). Note that if you are using the Windows Server 2003 exams, you can only combine them with the SQL Server 2000 exams, not with the SQL Server 7.0 exams.
