Certification Summary:
For developers who for individuals who code, test, and debug enterprise-level applications that utilize the Microsoft .NET framework.

Initial requirements: certification training requirement

You must pass four core exams ($500) plus one elective ($125). The first core exam is Exam 70-300: Analyzing Requirements and Defining .NET Solution Architectures. For the next three you must first choose a language track (currently C# or Visual Basic). Then pass a .NET Web Application Development exam, a .NET Windows Application Development Exam, and the Developing XML Web Services and Sever Components Exam for that language.

Available electives cover such topics as SQL Server, BizTalk Server 2000, Microsoft SQL Server2000, and Microsoft Commerce Server 2000.

Continuing requirements:
If one of the exams is retired, you will need to pass the replacement exam. Occasionally the entire certification is redesigned.
