Certification Summary:
For individuals who oversee and coordinate management of multiple, related projects directed toward strategic business objectives.

Initial requirements:
You must possess a high school diploma, an Associate's degree, or equivalent; have a minimum of four years (6,000 hours) of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience; and seven years (10,500 hours) of unique non-overlapping professional program management experience. Alternately, you must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or a higher degree; have a minimum of four years (6,000 hours) of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience; and four years (6,000 hours) of unique non-overlapping professional program management experience. All project and program management experience must have been accrued over the last 15 consecutive years.

You must pass an application review of your professional project and program management experience. You must then pass a multiple-choice exam ($1800 computer-based). Finally, you must pass the multi-rater assessment ($500), where a team of raters will access your abilities to perform tasks that are pertinent to program management.

There is a discount for PMI members.

Continuing requirements:
You must complete at least 60 professional development units every 3 years and pay a renewal fee ($150).
