Certification Summary:
For individuals who create, maintain and analyze the project schedule. PMI-SPs also report and communicate the schedule to the project team.
Initial requirements:
You must have a high school diploma, Associate's degree or equivalent; have at least 5,000 hours spent in the specialized area of professional project scheduling within the last 5 consecutive years; and have 40 contact hours of formal education in the specialized area of project scheduling. Alterntely, you must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent; have at least 3,500 hours spent in the specialized area of professional project scheduling within the last 5 consecutive years; and have 30 contact hours of formal education in the specialized area of project scheduling.
You must pass the PMI-Sp exam ($670). The exam has a 3.5 hour time limit and consists of 170 questions.
There is a discount for PMI members.
Continuing requirements:
You must complete at least 30 professional development units every 3 years and pay a renewal fee ($150).
