Project Management Professional (PMP)

Certification Summary:
For project management professionals who lead and direct project teams and deliver results within the constraints of schedule, budget and resources.

Initial requirements:
You must possess a high school diploma, associate's degree or equivalent; have a minimum of five years (60 months) of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience, during which at least 7,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks; and 35 contact hours of formal education. Alternately, you must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent; have a minimum of three years (36 months) of unique non-overlapping professional project management experience, during which at least 4,500 hours were spent leading and directing project tasks; and 35 contact hours of formal education.

You must pass the PMP exam ($555). The exam has a four hour time limit and consists of 200 questions.

There is a discount for PMI members.

Continuing requirements:
You must complete at least 60 professional development units every 3 years and pay a renewal fee ($150).
