Initial Requirements:
This certification requires completion of the Certified Coding Associate exam ($299; $100 discount for AHIMA members) with a minimum score of 300 out of 400. Before taking the exam, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent educational credential. At least 6 months of coding experience or equivalent training is recommended, but not required.
Continuing Requirements:
Must be renewed every two years by completing 20 continuing education units (including mandatory annual coding self-reviews, each of which is equivalent to 5 CEUs) and paying a $50 fee.
