CompTIA Certifications

CompTIA A+

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For entry-level IT technical support technicians who perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. Security, safety and environmental issues, and communication and professionalism are also covered. It is recommended, although not required, that candidates have 500 hours of related hands-on experience.

CompTIA Certified Document Imaging Architech (CDIA+)

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Being phased out
For individuals who deliver document imaging solutions. The CDIA+ certification proves expertise in the technologies and best practices used to plan, design, and specify a document imaging, management system. This certification will be retired December 31, 2011. No replacement is planned.

CompTIA Cloud Essentials Professional (CEP)

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who have an understanding of what cloud computing means from a business and technical perspective, as well as what is involved in moving to and governing the cloud. The CEP is offered in partnership with the Cloud Computing Council.

CompTIA CTP+

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who have the core knowledge and skills needed to sell and service convergent technologies. This includes basic requirements analysis, implementation and management of basic data components and voice and multimedia applications, as well as basic problem analysis and resolution for convergent technologies. CompTIA CTP+ replaces the CompTIA Convergence+.

CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who have the knowledge needed to implement, deploy, and support healthcare IT systems in various clinical settings.

CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
The CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI is for individuals who want to validate the fundamental knowledge and skills required of junior Linux administrators. Because this certification uses the same tests as the LPIC-1 by LPI, you can also qualify for LPIC-1 certification at the same as you earn CTP+.


CompTIA Printing and Document Imaging (PDI+)

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who service and support printing and document imaging devices including printers, copiers, scanners, multi-functional devices and fax machines. The CompTIA PDI+ certification recognizes a technician's understanding of basic electromechanical components and tools, print engine and scan processes and components, color theory and connectivity/networking. The exam also covers soft skills such as customer service, professionalism, safety and environment.

CompTIA Radio Frequency Identification (RFID+)

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Discontinued
For technicians who install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the hardware and software functionality of RFID products. This certification provides a baseline for the knowledge and skills required of RFID workers. The exam for certification was retired December 31, 2011.

CompTIA Security+

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who have knowledge of systems security, network infrastructure, access control, assessments and audits, cryptography and organizational security.

CompTIA Storage+ Powered by SNIA

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For individuals who wish to demonstrate fundamental knowledge and skills related to data storage, storage networking, data protection, and the underlying interconnect technologies. This certification is a joint effort by CompTIA and SNIA.
