Summary:
For individuals who have an understanding of network security; compliance and operational security; threats and vulnerabilities; application, data and host security; access control and identity management; and cryptography.

Initial Requirements:
You must pass the Security+ exam ($276). The exam has a 90 minute time limit and consists of 100 questions. A passing score of 750, on a scale of 100 - 900 is requiredTraining is available but not required.

The CompTIA Security+ certification is accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Continuing Requirements:
Certifications earned on or after January 1, 2011, are valid for 3 years. To renew your certification, you must earn 50 CEUs and paying an annual fee of $49.
Certifications earned before 2011 are considered valid for life.
