LPI Certifications

Linux Professional Institute Certified Level 1 (LPIC-1)

Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Active
For junior-level Linux administrators who work at the Linux command line performing easy maintenance tasks. You should also be able to Install and configure a workstation (including X) and connect it to a LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.

Linux Professional Institute Certified Level 2 (LPIC-2)

Skill Level: Intermediate                          Status: Active
For individuals who can administer a small to medium-sized site. Skills include the ability to plan, implement, keep consistent, secure, and troubleshoot a small mixed (MS, Linux) network, including a: LAN server (samba), Internet Gateway (firewall, proxy, mail, news) and Internet Server (webserver, FTP server).

Linux Professional Institute Certified Level 3 (LPIC-3)

Skill Level: Advanced                          Status: Active
For senior level Linux administrators. This is the highest level of LPIC certification and is for individuals with advanced experience installing and maintaining Linux on a number of computers for various purposes. This includes using LDAP to integrate with Unix and Windows services, and planning, architecting, designing, building and implementing a full environment using Samba and LDAP as well as measuring the capacity planning and security of the services.
