Skill Level: Foundation                          Status: Discontinued

Low Cost: $399 (shortest track)

Summary:
For technicians who set up new Red Hat Linux systems and attach them to networks. RHCT is the first step in establishing Linux credentials and is an ideal certification for those transitioning from non-UNIX/Linux environments. This certification has been replaced by the newer Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) designation.

Initial Requirements:
You must pass a 2 hour hands-on lab exam ($399) administered at Red Hat facilities. A passing score of 70% is required. Training is available but not required.

As of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6), this certification was replaced by the newer Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) designation. Current RHCT certifications are still considered valid but, the RHCT exam retired 3/1/11.

Continuing Requirements:
Starting with RHEL 6, a certification is considered current for 3 years. If a higher-level exam is passed within the 3-year period, the currency period starts over.

Certifications tied to earlier versions of RHEL are subject to the recertification policy in force when they were earned.
