Summary:
For individuals (Tier II or Tier III support) who troubleshoot and maintain service provider IP NGN core network infrastructures. Skills and knowledge covered include identifying performance problems, implementing proactive fault measures, carrier class routing protocol environments, MPLS, VPN and TE, and QoS mechanisms using Cisco IOS and IOS XR.

Initial Requirements:
You must first hold a current CCNA Service Provider Operations certification. In addition you must pass 4 more exams: Operational Foundations for Cisco Service Provider Core Networks (OFCN), Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Routing Protocols (MSPRP), Maintaining Cisco Service Provider VPNs and MPLS Networks (MSPVM), and Maintaining Cisco Service Provider Quality of Service (MSPQS). The exams cost $150 each.

Continuing Requirements:
Cisco professional level certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:


  • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional level exam, or
  • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam, or
  • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam OR current CCDE Practical Exam, or
  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.
