BCS appoints new Security and Privacy Executive Chair

22 September 2017 - BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has appointed Phil Huggins of Prudential plc as Chair of its new Security and Privacy Executive, which provides a focal point for the security and privacy community, and the issues that concern them.

 

Paul Fletcher, CEO, BCS, says: “It’s great to have Phil on board. Today we face a very different environment in the digital world; the threats have changed, and the proliferation of digital technology has made the impact much more severe when things go wrong. Security is never out of the news. It affects everything and everyone.

 

As the new Chair, Phil will build on existing foundations, leading the professional community towards a safer digital future for everyone. He brings a range of experience to the role having worked across many different sectors. With his proven track record and wealth of expertise, he will help us to continue to drive forward our work around these important issues.”

Phil Huggins - Biography

Phil Huggins is the Group Head of Information Risk & Security at Prudential PLC and is responsible for leading security globally. Phil has spent the last 20 years as a security & risk professional across multiple commercial sectors and in government focusing on security management at an executive and board with a background in technical security. Phil has also advised national regulators on cyber resilience and cyber security. Phil is a Chartered Fellow of the BCS.
