ISACA to Host First-ever Africa CACS Conference in Nairobi

Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (24 May 2016) — There is greater opportunity than ever for IT to transform industry in Africa, as digital economies flourish and a new tech-savvy generation enters the workplace.

IT audit, risk, cybersecurity and governance professionals from around the continent will convene in Nairobi, Kenya, to examine the transformational role they play in their organizations. ISACA’s Africa Computer Audit, Control and Security (Africa CACS) Conference, taking place 8-9 August 2016, will gather global experts to discuss solutions and strategies in assurance, risk, governance and security, including how these professionals can advance their careers and impact their enterprises.

“ISACA’s Africa CACS is coming at the right time to bring together industry players across Africa and around the world to discuss the critical importance of IT roles in our region,” said Paul Roy Owino, CISA, CISM, CISSP, president of the ISACA Kenya Chapter. “I am looking forward to welcoming attendees to Nairobi in August for this unique conference taking place in Africa for the very first time.”

ISACA, a global association serving more than 140,000 members and certification holders in 180 countries, will offer more than 30 sessions in four tracks at Africa CACS:

  • IS Audit & Assurance

  • Security/Cybersecurity

  • Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Compliance/Privacy

Session topics include governance innovation and compliance, auditing’s impact on cybersecurity, big data, encryption, payment data security, emerging technologies and best practices in auditing.

“Cybersecurity is relevant to all of us, regardless of our roles in our enterprises,” said Owino. “The global cyber skills shortage significantly impacts Africa, and Africa CACS will share ways to ensure that the pipeline of talent is built.”

Pre-conference workshops will offer hands-on training for COBIT 5, including an opportunity to take the exam to earn the COBIT 5 Foundation Certificate; and for cybersecurity to help attendees prepare for the CSX Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate exam.

Attendees can earn up to 30 continuing professional education (CPE) hours, and an early-bird registration rate is available through 1 June. Additional details, registration and venue information can be found at www.isaca.org/AfricaCACS.
