Red Hat Seeks Nominations for Women in Open Source Awards

Woman at table with laptop and multiethnic coworkersThere’s a lot of discussion in IT circles about encouraging more women and girls to take up IT learning and get involved in IT professions. Quite frequently, we focus on the problem of gender imbalance by looking at the desired end result — more women in IT jobs — and trying to figure out what steps to take to get us there. That sometimes overlooks, however, the critically important contribution being made by women who already have IT jobs. These trailblazers are laying vital groundwork right now for the next generation of female IT professionals. Now leading open source solution provider Red Hat is offering a tip of its signature chapeau to the women who are already getting the job done. The company is currently seeking nominees for its 2018 Women in Open Source Awards. Do you know of a woman who is doing important work in open source software development? Put her name in the (Red) hat! Act quickly, though. Nominations are only being accepted through Oct. 30.
