And Now for a Few Words About Certification and Salary

Certifications are not worth as much as they used to be.Certification researcher David Foote is one of the leading figures in the IT certification realm, widely respected for his ongoing analysis of the dollar value of various IT certifications. Foote dropped in at the ISACA Now Blog of cybersecurity and governance association ISACA — which manages a fistful of certs frequently associated with six-figure salaries — at the end of last week, to trumpet the findings of his latest IT Skills Demand and Pay Trends report. Foote's latest research indicates that the average "cash market value" for IT certs is at its lowest point in four years. (A similar detail popped through in the annual Salary Survey conducted by Certification Magazine, which recently tracked the lowest average annual salary among certified professionals since 2013.) Foote discusses at length the whys and wherefores of this troublesome development and relates some interesting historical data about the up-and-down volatility of certification compensation.

New CCSP Certification Exam in the Works

The recent explosion in popularity of cloud computing, particularly at the enterprise level, as well as ongoing concerns about cybersecurity, has fueled the meteoric growth of the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) credential unveiled by (ISC)² in early 2015. In just four years, CCSP has already become the second-most widely held (ISC)² certification. Now CCSP is getting its first overhaul. Sometime GoCertify contributor Mike Chapple dives deep into the details in a new feature at CertMag.com, the Certification Magazine website. CCSP has become a staple of CertMag's Deep Focus series, which profiles top-paying certifications identified by the annual Salary Survey.
