Certification News regarding Cisco CCNP/CCDP, ailment SofTest Certified Tester Professional, Nortel Networks, and IBM WebSphere.

Cisco to Replace CCNP/CCDP Foundation and Recertification Exams

Starting August 7, 2003, Cisco will replace Foundation exam 640-841 with a new composite exam (642-891 COMP). While the 640-841 Foundations exam combines coverage of three other exams (BSCI, Switching, and Remote Access) into a single test, making the shortest path to CCNP certification a two exam affair, the new Combined exam will cover the contents of just two topic/course areas - BSCI and BCMSN. This means the shortest path (in number of exams) to CCNP certification will require passing three tests. The amount of material and topic areas covered are the same for both paths. The Composite exam also counts on the CCDP track. CCDP candidates who take the new Composite exam will have only one more exam (641-871 ARCH) to reach certification.

For those who are following all this, if you pass the Composite exam you are well on your way to both CCDP and CCNP certification. With 642-891 COMP under your belt, you can earn CCDP certification with one more exam or CCNP certification with two more exams.

642-891 COMP will also become the recertification exam for current CCNPs and CCDPs. The existing Foundation 640-841exam, CCNP Recertification 640-589 exam, and CCDP Recertification 640-529 exam will retire on September 7, 2003.
