Certification News regarding Cisco Optical Specialist, ambulance IBM WebSphere certification and testing, and Nortel certification.

Newly Revised Cisco Optical Specialist Certification Available

Cisco Systems has created a totally new Cisco Optical Specialist certification that offers a choice of tracks: SONET or SDH. Candidates will have to demonstrate the ability to design, provision, operate, and perform basic troubleshooting using the ONS 15454, extend distances using the ONS 15216 product family, and demonstrate significant and specialized knowledge of Cisco fiber optic principles and DWDM transmission. Each track has its own exam. There are no prerequisites for this certification. See the Cisco Web site for full details.

New IBM Certifications, Testing Opportunity

IBM has released several new WebSphere certification exams: IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0, and IBM Certified Solution Developer - IBM WebSphere Portal V5.0 both cover, as their names imply, WebSphere Portal v5.0. Each requires passing a single exam. Individuals who register for the IBM Content Management and WebSphere Portal Technical Conference (May 2-6, 2004) can take these tests (and quite a few others) for free at the event. See the IBM Web site for full details on this free testing opportunity: (click here)

New MCS 5100 and Succession 3.0 certifications now available from Nortel Networks

Nortel Networks recently released three new certifications, covering the Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0 and Succession 1000/1000M Rls. 3.0 products. You can now become a Design Specialist (NNCDS) or a Support Specialist (NNCSS) in Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0. The Design Specialist credential validates your ability to design and plan Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0 products in support of a customer's business requirements. It requires the successful completion of two exams, VoIP Technology (#920-801) and Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0 (#920-144).

The Support Specialist credential validates your ability to install, maintain, configure, and perform day-to-day operational activities for Multimedia Communications Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0. It also requires the successful completion of two exams, VoIP Technology (#920-801) and Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) 5100 Rls. 2.0 (#920-134).

The third new certification from Nortel Networks is a Design Expert certification (NNCDE) in Succession 1000/1000M Rls. 3.0. This credential validates your ability to apply design principles and plan Succession 1000/1000M Rls. 3.0 solutions. This certification requires the successful completion of two exams, IP Convergence exam (#920-802) and Succession 1000/1000M Rls. 3.0 (#920-442). Because this certification is at the Expert level, candidates are required to hold the corresponding Specialist certification as a prerequisite.
