As is typically the case, August was a slow month in the world of computer certification, however, we have managed to dig up a few interesting itemswe hope you will find of value.

New Certifications from IBM

IBM recently launched a new Tivoli certification, and has another in the works. IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Tivoli Provisioning Manager with Orchestration V2.1, became available worldwide on August 13, 2004. IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Tivoli License Manager V2.1, will become available worldwide in mid-October, 2004. Each of these titles requires passing a single certification exam covering the related product's technology coupled with capabilities in planning and implementing customer requirements into a solution with appropriate hardware, software, and services.

Free beta opportunity for Nortel Networks Wireless LAN Design Expert exam

Nortel Networks has introduced a new wireless certification: Nortel Networks Certified Design Expert (NNCDE) - Wireless LAN . This certification requires the successful completion of one exam, Wireless LAN (#921-461). Unlike other Expert certifications in Nortel's portfolio, a Specialist certification is not required as a prerequisite. Candidates should have 1-3 years experience working with WLAN solutions. Competency on the basic components of WLAN solutions is validated through the completion of the prerequisites to the advanced training recommended as preparation for this certification. Advanced skills with the solutions are tested by the certification exam. This exam will enter beta testing September 17, 2004. Pre-registration for this exam opens September 3. New Microsoft Certification Salary Released

Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine has published the results of its ninth annual salary survey. After analyzing responses from more than 5,000 individuals, the report categorizes salaries for Microsoft Certified Professionals as "flat," and states "Average salaries for MCSEs across the board in this year's survey topped out at $61,900." That's up about 0.3 percent from the previous survey. Not surprisingly, MCDST certification holders receive the lowest compensation of the Microsoft certification titles and MCSD Visual Studio .NET is at the top.
