Microsoft Offers Free eLibrary to MCSAs, Training for MCDST Candidates

Individuals who hold the MCSA 2003 certification can apply for free access to Microsoft's E-Reference Library. The library contains mostly MCSE training kits. This offer is only good through May 31, 2005. You will need your MCP number to register.

Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) candidates can take advantage of a free online training "clinic" offered by Microsoft. The clinic is intended to prepare individuals for MCP exam 70-271 and 70-272, both of which are required to earn the MCDST title. You can access the training online through Microsoft.

Microsoft to add Simulation Questions

In late March 2005 Microsoft is planning to begin to introduce simulation questions. The first exams affected will be Exam 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment and Exam 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure (core MCSA and MCSE on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 exams). The goal is to have candidates perform a task rather than just answer questions about it. You can learn more about the upcoming simulations on Microsoft's Web site.

New CompTIA Server+ is Live

The CompTIA Server+ exam has been updated to incorporate the latest technologies in server architectures, hardware and peripherals and map as closely as possible to current job tasks. Details of exam domains and new objectives can be found on the CompTIA website www.comptia.org/certification/server. Registration for the new exam is now open through Pearson Vue and Thomson Prometric.

MySQL Certification Updated

As of February 1st, 2005, MySQL Certification exams will include questions on functionality in MySQL Server 4.1. A detailed explanation of the exam changes, as well as a free study guide addendum are available from MySQL. For full update details see the MySQL Web site.

Nortel Launches New Technician Certification

Nortel is working on a new certification designation: Nortel Certified Technology Specialist (NCTS). This certification is for individuals who plan, design, or engineer network solutions, including determining the right technology for a customer's network. The first exam, NCTS-Real-Time Networking is slated for availability this month.

Siebel CRM OnDemand Consultant Certification Nears Release

Siebel has announced that it forthcoming CRM onDemand Consultant Certification will be released in April 2005. To earn this designation candidates must complete 2 CRM OnDemand courses and pass the Siebel OnDemand 2005 Core Exam (available in March).

Free Beta Exam from Veritas
