New Solaris 10 beta Exams Available from Sun

Registration for Solaris 10 System and Network Administrator beta exams is currently available. The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 OS, Part 1, will be available through March 18th. The Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 OS Part II beta will be available through March 22. The Sun Certified Network Administrator for Solaris 10 OS beta exam will last through March 24. To register for the Network Administrator exam, you must be previously certified as a System Administrator for any version of Solaris.

These beta exams count towards official Solaris Certification. Detailed objectives for each of these exams, along with links to free Web-based sample questions, are available on the beta announcement page at: http://www.sun.com/training/certification/solaris/beta.html. You can register online through http://www.2test.com or by calling Prometric (1-800-795-3926 in the USA).

CCIE Storage Networking, Metro Ethernet Exams Released This Month

The written exam for Cisco's new CCIE Storage Networking certification will be released to all testing facilities between March 17 and March 18, 2005. A full exam blueprint is available on Cisco's Web site.

The corresponding lab exam for this title will also become available for scheduling on March 17, 2005. The lab exam blueprint can be found on Cisco's Web site. Scheduling is through the CCIE customer service team (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

On March 17th Cisco will also release the new Service Provider--Metro Ethernet written exam, which qualifies candidates to take the CCIE Service Provider lab exam.

Red Hat Certified Architect Details Posted

Red Hat Inc has posted the requirements for the RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect) designation announced last year. The RHCA is intended to be the top certification in the Red Hat program. To earn it, candidates must first hold RHCE certification. Then they must pass 5 endorsement exams covering Security: Network Services; Deployment and System Management; Directory Services and Authentication; Storage Management; and System Monitoring and Performance Tuning. The exams cost $749 each. There is a $200 discount if the exam is purchased together with the corresponding training course. You can read more about the RHCA at Red Hat's RHCA training page.

Microsoft Offers Free Retake Through May 31

Microsoft has created a "Second Shot Offer" that will run through May 31, 2005. With this promotion you can receive a free retake of any IT Pro or Developer exam if you fail on your first try. In order to take advantage of the free retake, you must register for the promotion first, before taking your exam for the first time. For the fine print, read the "Second Shot" FAQ. HP Grants Migration Extension to Master ASEs

Hewlett-Packard recently announced that Master ASEs from the Compaq certification program have until July 31, 2005 to migrate to the new (post-merger) program structure. If you do not complete the requirements before the deadline, you will lose your current certified status at this level. The following designations are affected: Compaq Accredited Professional Master ASE - Master Enterprise Storage and Compaq Accredited Professional Master ASE - SAN Architect (pre-November 15 2002)

Siebel 7 Consultant Core Exam to Retire June 30, 2005

No one will be able to earn Siebel 7 certification after June 30, 2005, when the Siebel 7 consultant core exam will be retired. Candidates who have completed Siebel 7 certification can upgrade to Siebel 7.7 certification using the upgrade path to be provided soon.
