Seven New Microsoft Certification Exams Go Live

Microsoft has released 7 new exams related to the new generation of Microsoft certifications including Microsoft Technology Specialist and Microsoft Certified IT Professional. The new exams are:

  • Exam 70-528: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - Web-Based Client Development
  • Exam 70-431: TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance
  • Exam 70-536: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - Application Development Foundation
  • Exam 70-441: PRO: Designing Database Solutions by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Exam 70-443: PRO: Designing a Database Server Infrastructure by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Exam 70-444: PRO: Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administration Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Exam 70-447: UPGRADE: MCDBA Skills to MCITP Database Administrator by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005

In addition, three Microsoft Certified IT Professional developer exams are available in beta format. Take one and you could win a prize, plus get a free exam voucher. The beta exams are:

  • 71-547 PRO: Designing and Developing Web-Based Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework
  • 71-548 PRO: Designing and Developing Windows-Based Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework
  • 71-549 PRO: Designing and Developing Enterprise Applications by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework

Credential kits for the new certifications will begin delivery in early May 2006.

Free Second Shot at Microsoft Exams

Microsoft and Thomson Prometric are offering a free retake of a failed Microsoft Certification exam. To take advantage of this offer, register and take a Microsoft Certification exam with Thomson Prometric by June 30, 2006. If you fail your first attempt, you can retake the same exam at no charge if you take it by July 31, 2006. Visit Thomson Prometric's Web site to learn more. You must register for this offer BEFORE you take your first exam.

Registration To Open For CompTIA RFID+ Exam, Convergence+ Certification In The Works

CompTIA recently announced that registration for the beta version of the new RFID+ exam will open on March 28, 2006 at Thomson Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centers. RFID+ is an entry-level certification covering the installation and maintenance of RFID.

In other CompTIA news, the industry organization is currently in the process of working with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop a new certification for convergence technologies named Convergence+. No release date has been announced for this yet.

SAS Warehouse Technology Exam Now Available

The SAS Certified Professional Program is excited to announce the release of the SAS Warehouse Technology Exam. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge within the SAS 9.1 data warehouse solution. This exam is a required component to earn either the SAS Certified Warehouse Architect or SAS Certified Warehouse Development Specialist credentials. New Nortel Certifications Arrive, Others Retire

Nortel has announced two new certifications, currently available: Nortel Certified Support Specialist (NCSS) - Ethernet Switching, and NCSS - Media Processing Server Rls. 3.0 Application Developer. Earning each certification requires passing a single associated exam.

In addition, several Nortel Certified Support Specialist (NCSS) designations are scheduled to retire on November 30, 2006. These include: NCSS - Contivity VPN Switch Rls. 5.0, NCSS - MPS Application Developer, and NCSS - MPS Application Developer - Speech.
