Oracle Launches 11i E-Business Suite Certified Professional Program

Oracle's new certification program for E-Business Suite 11i is now live. The program enables Oracle professionals to pursue three certification paths: Oracle 11i Financials Certified Professional Consultant, Oracle 11i Supply Chain Certified Professional Consultant, and Oracle 11i Applications Technology Certified Professional Administrator. Each track requires passing 3 exams plus completing a hands-on course requirement. Through May 31, 2007 candidates only need to pass the required exams in order to become certified and are not required to demonstrate competence by attending an approved course. After May 31, 2007 the course attendance requirement will apply.

Several of the E-Business Essentials exams are available in Beta now through July 31, 2006 at a reduced cost of $50 each (usually $95).

Project Management Institute Working On New Certification

An as yet to be named certification (we are guessing it will be Program Management Professional) for program managers is under development at the Project Management Institute (PMI), vendors of the Project Management Professional (PMP) program. The pending certification, which doesn't have a set release date, will require completion of three steps. First, you must complete an application that will include a review of your education and professional work experience. If you pass this, you must next complete a multiple-choice exam demonstrating your knowledge and expertise. The last requirement is a competence assessment which will occur through a multi-rater assessment in which a team of raters that the candidate selects will evaluate the candidate's competence in a work environment to perform germane tasks of a program manager as defined through the examination specification.

For details as they develop visit the PMI website.

In other Sun certification news, Sun has announced that the Sun Certified Programmer 1.2 exam (310-025) will be discontinued on July 31, 2006. Those with exam vouchers have through September 30, 2006 to take the exam.
