CCDA Program Updated, New Exam Released

Cisco has updated its Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) program to emphasize the converged enterprise network model, focusing on services virtualization using the Cisco Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA). Successful CCDA candidates will know how to design routed and switched network infrastructures and services using these concepts. The new exam, DESGN 640-863, contains 60 questions and has a 90 minute time limit. The previous exam will remain available through July 13, 2007. New Business (MS Office 2007) Certifications from Microsoft

In case you didn't have enough certification options from Microsoft already, now you have two more. Microsoft is in the process of rolling out two "Business Certification" credentials related to its Microsoft Office 2007 system. The Microsoft Certified Application Specialist targets end users of the most popular Microsoft Office applications such as Word 2007, PowerPoint 2007, Excel 2007, and Outlook 2007.

The Microsoft Certified Application Professional designation, on the other hand, is intended to demonstrate advanced, cross-industry skills and collaboration capabilities with focus areas of managing budgets, managing presentations, and managing team collaboration. Exams will roll out starting this month, and will be administered through CertiPort, which runs the current Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) program. The MOS certifications, which cover earlier versions of Microsoft Office products, will continue to be available. An overview of the new program is available at Microsoft.com.

CWSP Exam Content Updated, Cost to Shoot Up

Planet3Wireless has announced that its Certified Wireless Security Professional (CWSP) certification exam has been updated to reflect updated terminology and industry standard naming conventions now in use as well as a few other changes that Planet3Wireless identifies as minor. The new exam will go live on April 17,2007, at which time the price will increase to $255 (from $175). A list of the changes can be found on the CWNP Web site.

CompTIA Convergence+ Goes Live March 30

The production version of the exam for CompTIA's Convergence+ certification will be available in testing centers starting on March 30, 2007. CompTIA Convergence+ was developed to validate the skills of technicians that install and support voice and data networks. The 90 minute exam contains 90 questions, and the passing score is 720 on a scale of 100 900. Recommended experience includes 18 to 24 months of work experience in areas that include data networking, VoIP, and other convergence related technologies.
