New Certifications from Sun

Individuals who are interested in becoming a Sun Certified Enterprise Architect 5 can sign up to be one of the first to take the new SCEA exams. The SCEA is a 3 part process which includes a multiple choice exam, a programming assignment, and an essay. Starting September 19th, interested candidates can sign up for the beta version of the multiple choice exam at no charge, followed by the assignment if you pass the exam. The exam beta can be taken between September 21 and October 22, 2007. The assignment beta will run from November 21 through December 26. Full details can be found on Sun's website.

New Project Management Certification Option Available

The International Consortium of Certified Knowledge Experts (ICCKE) has just launched the Certified Knowledge Expert in Project Management (CKD PM) designation. The exam costs $295. A list of general objectives can be found on the ICCKE website.

Other current project management certification options include the Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute (PMI), CompTIA's Project+, and Microsoft's MCTS and MCITP certifications on its Microsoft Office Project 2007 product.

SANS GIAC Certification Switching to Proctored Exams Only

The SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute has announced plans to move its GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification) program to proctored only testing as of December 1, 2007. Currently, many of the GIAC exams are offered as online tests that can be taken from anywhere. The new proctored exams will cost $499 each.

CISA/CISM Registration Deadline Approaching

The deadline for registering for the next CISA/CISM exam opportunity is fast approaching. Candidates wishing to take one of these popular exams, which are offered only twice a year (in June and December), have until September 26th to register. The exams are administered on December 8th. Juniper Networks Releases New Certification Track

The Juniper Networks certification program has added a Unified Access Control (UAC) certification at the entry level/associate level. This is for individuals who work with and deploy Juniper's UCA products. It is a one exam certification. Details on the exam objectives can be found on the Juniper Networks website.

Latest Nortel Certification is for VPN Routers

Starting this month, professionals who work with Nortel's VPN Router can earn Nortel Certified Solutions Engineer (NCSE) - Nortel VPN Router by passing the new exam covering this product. You must first hold either the specialist level designation on this track or the NCSE - Contivity Security title. The exam blueprint can be found on Nortel's NCSE page.
