New Testing Security Implemented at Pearson VUE

Cisco exam takers testing at Pearson VUE test centers will now undergo a new layer of scrutiny. In addition to displaying proof of identity, digitized versions of your photo and signature will be collected during the admission process. This is intended to help combat exam fraud and protect the value of Cisco certification. The digital ID process will be phased in over the next 12 months. Can biometrics be far behind?

Microsoft to Retire 22 Exams in March

A whole slew of Microsoft certification exams will be retiring in March, including the MCSA/MCSE tracks for Windows Server 2000 and the MCSA and MCSE upgrade paths from Windows Server 2000 to Windows Server 2003. You can find the full list here.

Upgrade to Windows 2008 Before it's Released

Microsoft has already released the necessary exams for upgrading from MCSE or MCSA on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008, even though Windows 2008 isn't slated for arrival for some time yet. Each track requires a single upgrade exam. Training materials are available on the Microsoft Web site.

Java Standard Edition 6 Exams Released

Sun has released the new Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform (SCJP), Standard Edition 6 exam (CX 310 065). The exam costs $200. There are 72 multiple choice and drag and drop questions and the passing score is 65%. Objectives can be found on the Sun exam details page.

Lotus Notes Exam Deadline Extended

IBM has pushed back the deadline to take Lotus Notes 6/6.5 exams to January 31, 2008. This includes the core exams and electives. You can find a list of affected exams here.

IBM Releases System i System Administrator Certification

The latest exam from IBM is for administrators System i v5.07.09 and covers advanced system management, workload management, security planning and implementation, and backup and recovery planning, among other topics. You can read the full objectives on the IBM Web site.

Brocade Releases Updated SAN Manager Exam

Brocade has released a new version of its Brocade Certified SAN Manager exam for 2008. The associated training will not be available for a few weeks, but an overview of the exam coverage can be found on Brocade's Web site.
