Cisco CCDE Practical Exam Launches August 26th, Online Demo Available

Cisco Systems has announced that the hands on practical exam for its new, expert level Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) designation will be available for the first time on August 26, 2009, in Chicago, London, and Hong Kong. Registration is currently open. The cost is $1400, and you must pass the CCDE qualification exam before you will be allowed to register. For registration steps, visit the CCDE website. Project+ Beta Exam Registration Open

The beta version of a forthcoming updated version of CompTIA's Project+ exam is now available to interested beta testers thfough Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centers. The final version of the exam is slated for release in September or October 2009. The Project+ beta test contains 130+ questions and has a 90 minute time limit. As with all beta exams, you will not be assigned a score immediately but must wait until the exam format is finalized. Objectives can be found on CompTIA's website.

Oracle Releases New PL/SQL Certification, Extends 11g Betas

Testing with the new Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL exam (1Z0-146) began on April 1, 2009, through Prometric testing centers worldwide. Passing this exam is the only requirement for advancing from the Oracle Associate PL/SQL Developer designation to the Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional level. The exam contains 68 questions and has a 90 minute time limit. Passing score is 65% or better.

Also in the arena of 11g, the beta period for two Oracle Database 11g Administrator exams - Administration II (1Z1-053). and Performance Tuning (1Z1-054), has been extended until June 30, 2009. The administration exam is for individuals who wish to upgrade from OCA to OCP on 11g. The performance tuning exam is the single requirement for Oracle 11g DBA OCPs to advance to Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Certified Expert (OCE) certification.

Brocade Integrating Foundry Networks Certification Program

Brocade has announced its plans for integrating Foundry Networks certifications into the Brocade certification program. The current Foundry Networks certifications will be renamed to reflect the new ownership, and the exams will be given new exam numbers (starting June 1st). Testing will also be making a switch to Pearson VUE instead of Prometric. Testing will end through Prometric on April 30, 2009, and begin at Pearson VUE on June 1, 2009. New logos are being released as well. You can view the new names, exam numbers, and logos in the formal Brocade announcement.
