New Novell Certification: Certified Workload Management Administrator

Novell recently launched a certification covering its PlateSpin data center automation solutions. The new designation is for network administrators who install, configure, use and troubleshoot these products. This is a one exam certification with a $125 test fee. Objectives are available from Novell.

SolarWinds Launches Network Management Certification

Another new networking certification option comes from SolarWinds, which makes products to help manage and monitor corporate networks and has entered the IT certification marketplace with its new SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) designation. The credential covers network management fundamentals; planning; operations; fault and performance troubleshooting; and Orion NPM administration. The exam costs $150. Brocade BCNP Exam Approaching Beta

The exam to earn the Brocade Certified Network Professional (BCNP) designation is scheduled to enter beta on October 5, 2009, through November 13, 2009. Results will be available starting January 26, 2010. The exam contains 200 questions and has a 4-hour time limit. This beta is without charge, but only 150 exams will be offered. The exam number is 152-220, and the registration code to use is BCNP2009Beta. Objectives can be found on the Brocade website.

Sun Seeks Java Associate Input

If you work with Java, Sun Microsystems wants your input into the next Java associate certification exam. Take the 5-10 minute online survey about which skills you think new Java associates should know, and your input will be considered as the next exam is developed. THE SURVEY IS ONLY OPEN UNTIL OCTOBER 12, 2009.

Citrix Starts the Switch to Electronic Certificates

Following a trend among certification programs, Citrix has announced that it will deliver Citrix Certified Associate (CCA) certificates by e-mail in PDF format instead of by postal mail starting October 1, 2009. Other Citrix technical certificates, such as those for CCEA, will continue to be delivered by postal mail, at least for the time being.

ISACA Exam Registration Deadline Extended

ISACA has extended its exam registration for its popular Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) exams that will be administered in December in Chicago, IL to October 7, 2009. More than 70,000 individuals have earned the CISA designation to date. To register online visit the ISACA registration page.
