Microsoft Drastically Drops Cost, Increases Availability of SQL Server Master Certification

Microsoft recently announced modifications to the Microsoft Certified Master on SQL Server credential process which make it vastly more affordable and accessible to experienced IT professionals. Under the original plan, candidates were required to attend a 3-week training session plus pass 4 exams, for a total cost exceeding $18,500, not including travel expenses. Now the requirements have been slimmed down to a 2-exam path with no mandatory training. The first exam, a 4-hour knowledge exam, became available in testing centers November 9th. The second component is a 6-hour hands on lab exam that is slated for release in early 2011. The combined cost of both exams is $2500. For full details of the new path, see Microsoft's MCM FAQ.

Brocade Certified Network Designer Beta Opportunity

The beta period is scheduled through 12/2/2010, but a limited number of seats are available, so register early if you are interested. Use exam code BCND2010Beta and register through Pearson VUE for exam 152-510. Brocade has posted some BCND study materials to help you prepare.
