VMware VCP5 Exam Registration Now Open

Register via VMware's VCP page.

CompTIA Launches Healthcare IT Technician

Referring to it as a certificate rather than a certification, CompTIA recently debuted a new exam targeting the Healthcare IT industry. The new "CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician certificate" is a 75-question exam that covers regulatory requirements, organizational behavior, IT operations, medical business operations, and security. CompTIA suggests candidates either hold A+ certification (or have 500 hours of hands-on technical experience) plus experience with healthcare IT systems in clinical settings before attempting this exam. The exam costs $102 (less for CompTIA members). Objectives are available on CompTIA's website.

CompTIA has several credentials it refers to as certificates rather than certifications. GoCertify has previously inquired about what criteria CompTIA uses to define something as a certificate or a certification and reported the results in Certiblog, the IT Certification blog.

A beta version of the exam for Oracle's new WebLogic Server 11g System Administrator certification is now open for registration for just $50. See Oracle's website for the full exam 1Z1-102 objectives list.

According to Oracle, most of them have already been replaced by newer versions or just aren't very popular. Affected product tracks include Oracle WebLogic Server 10g, Oracle 11i, Hyperion, and Siebel 7.7. For the detailed list, see Oracle's blog. Note that existing certifications will remain valid, but no new certifications on the list can be earned after the retirement date.
