New Cloud Certification for IT Professionals

Cloud Essentials Professional (CEP) certification. This vendor-neutral cloud certification, which is slated for release next month, will test understanding of the key concepts, themes and issues around cloud computing, including definitions, organizational readiness, operating in the cloud, and governance and security of the cloud model.

Microsoft to Use $13.5 Million Judgment to Combat Exam Piracy

Microsoft recently announced it was awarded a $13.5 million judgment, the maximum statutory damage allowable under the Copyright Act, in a legal victory against a web enterprise that was illegally providing test questions and answers. Microsoft reports that it plans to use the proceeds from the judgment to fight exam piracy, shutdown "brain dump" sites, and identify and ban exam candidates who use them, and vows to continue to defend the integrity of its certification programs.

Survey Says: Microsoft Recertification is In

In a recent survey conducted by Microsoft, 75% of survey participants thought recertification a positive or very positive impact on the value of Microsoft's certification program. Even before the survey, recertification was required for MCPD: Windows Azure Developer and MCPD: Windows Phone Developer. Candidates can expect to see recertification requirements added to other Microsoft certifications in the future, including professional-level SQL Server 2012 certifications when they are launched next year. Another Survey Says: IT Certifications Pay Off

A survey of 700 IT professionals just published by NetworkWorld reports that, while suspicion regarding the value of IT certifications certainly isn't rare, people who actually earn them find they pay off. Reported benefits include a salary increase or bonus, a new job or promotion, or other benefits. For all the figures, read the article or view the slides.

IBM Offers Buy 1 Get 1 Exam Vouchers

For each IBM certification test you take before December 31, 2011, IBM will give you a voucher to take another certification test for free. Eligible tests include most exams for Power Systems, Storage Systems, System x, and System z. To get a voucher, you must use the code STGNOV11 when you register. Full list of exams and a FAQ are available on the IBM web site.

ISACA 2012 Exam Dates Posted

ISACA's popular Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM) exams are only offered twice a year, and the 2012 dates are now posted. Exams will take place June 8 and December 8, 2012, worldwide. Registration for the June exams opens this month on the ISACA website.
