Planet3Wireless To Add Security Certification
Wireless LANS are increasingly popular, but their very nature poses unique security challenges. Planet3Wireless, which operates the Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) program, has created a new certification intended to identify wireless professionals who are up to speed on the latest security topics. The new designation, Certified Wireless Security Expert (CSWE), will cover hardware, software, protocols, procedures, and design techniques used in reducing wireless LAN security risks. The official launch is slated for this summer. Meanwhile, interested parties should explore the required prerequisite, Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA).
LPI Gives Credit To Sair Certified Pros
The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) recently announced a program that allows individuals who hold Sair LCA certification to bypass LPI level 1 (LPIC1) certification exams and start at Level 2 (LPIC2) of the LPIC program. Normally individuals must pass two Level 1 exams before becoming eligible for Level 2 certification. Alternatively, Sair LCAs who want to transfer to the LPI program but don't wish to earn Level 2 can achieve LPIC1 certification by passing just one of the two required Level 1 exams. Approximately 1,000 LPI exams are administered every month.
