LPI Updates Level One Linux Exams, Adds Choice of Package ManagerThe Linux Professional Institute (LPI) has released completely updated versions of both of the exams that are required to earn Level One certification. According to Kara Pritchard, Director of Exam Development, the objectives have been completely reorganized, and more than two thirds of the content on the exams has been revised or updated. New coverage has been added for boot managers, kernel topics, security issues, and many additional areas.At the beginning of the exam, candidates will choose whether they wish to receive questions on RPM or Debian package manager, and that will affect the question stream for the rest of the exam. Objectives for the updated exams can be found on the LPI Web site.
Cisco CCIP Certification RedesignedCisco has modified its Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) title to make it fit with the CCDP and CCNP format of four exams with four associated courses. The four exams are: Building Scalable Cisco Networks (BSCI) exam (641-901); Implementing Cisco Quality of Service (QoS) exam (642-641); Implementing Cisco MPLS (MPLS) exam (640-910); and Configuring BGP on Cisco Routers (BGP) (642-661). Candidates pursing the previous track, which included an elective, have until October 31, 2003 to complete the certification requirements.
HP/Compaq Certification Transition Details AvailableIndividuals who hold a Compaq or HP certification from the pre-HP merger days will be happy to hear that full details on how to migrate to the new, unified HP Certified Professional program are now posted on the HP Web site.
