Two MCSA/MCSE 2003 Core Exams Near Beta

Microsoft has announced that two core exams on the MCSA/MCSE tracks will be available in beta format June 4-15th. The exams are 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment; and 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure. Passing these two exams completes the networking systems core requirement for the MCSA 2003 track. In order to achieve MCSA certification, a client operating system core exam is also required, as well as 1 elective exam. Microsoft beta exams are not open to all comers, but are by invitation only. Invitations are usually sent to qualified subscribers of Microsoft's certification newsletter, MCP Newsflash.

Cisco CCIE Recertification Policy Changed, Dial Exam in Beta

Effective June 15th 2003, individuals certified under Cisco's CCIE program will be able to complete recertification requirements by passing any written CCIE exam available at the time of recertification. Prior to this policy change, only the recertification exam that was tied to the specific certification track would qualify. CCIEs are required to recertify every two years.

In other CCIE news, the CCIE Communications and Services Dial Written exam will be available in beta format from June 9, 2003 to June 30, 2003. The two hour multiple choice exam contains approximately 50% general knowledge questions, with the remaining half covering dial technology. In addition to passing the written exam, successful candidates on this track will have to achieve at least 80% on a one day, 8 hour hands-on lab exam covering general communications and services knowledge. Cisco exams are administered through Prometric and Pearson VUE testing networks. For full exam objectives see Cisco's Web site.

The fourth CCNP exam, 643-811 BCMSN is listed on Cisco's Web site as being in beta. Exam blueprints are available on Cisco's Web site.
