Cisco Modifies Retake Policy
Cisco has made several changes to its retake policy. First, if you fail a written exam you must wait 5 days (formerly 3) to retake the exam. Second, when you pass a CCIE written exam you must wait 6 months if you wish to take it again. According to Cisco this is rare but does happen. These changes are in place at all Thompson Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centers.

In other Cisco news, Unity Support exam 642-103 UCSE will retire soon. The last day to register for this exam is October 3, 2005. It is being replaced by an updated exam, 642-104 UCSE.

Updated MCP Certification Figures Released
According to recently released figures, more the 1.6 million people have achieved Microsoft certification worldwide. The breakdown by title is: Microsoft Certified System Engineer on Windows 2003 (MCSE) 27,510; Microsoft Certified System Administrator on Windows 2003 (MCSA) 43,249; Microsoft Certified System Engineer on Windows 2000 (MCSE) 272,406; Microsoft Certified System Administrator on Windows 2000 (MCSA) 153,755; Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician on Windows XP (MCDST) 7,077; Microsoft Certified Database Administrator on SQL Server 2000 (MCDBA) 132,57; Microsoft.Net Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) 15,463; and Microsoft Certified Application Developer on Microsoft .NET (MCAD) 33,298.

ISACA Surges Ahead
ISACA, vendor of the CISA and CISM titles, has hit several milestones in program development. First, 40,000 people have earned the CISA title. In addition, ISACA membership has grown from 35,000 in 2004 to 47,000 in 2005. ISACA's auditing and control standards are recognized and followed by information audit, control, security and governance professionals worldwide. Registration for December exams opens July 1, 2005.

Oracle Renames PL/SQL and Forms Developer Certification Paths
Oracle is renaming several certification paths and the associated exams. Basically they are dropping the version from the titles. The Oracle9i PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate (OCA) will become Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate (OCA). Oracle9i Forms Developer Certified Professional (OCP) will become Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional (OCP). The associated exam names will be modified in the same way. Any Oracle9i exams you have passed will continue to count towards your new certification track.

IBM Announces Workplace 2.5 Exams
New IBM Workplace 2.5 exams and certification titles have been announced. To earn the title IBM Certified System Administrator - IBM Workplace Messaging 2.5 you'll need to pass Exam 821: Implementing and Administering IBM Workplace Collaboration Services 2.5: Messaging. For the IBM Certified Application Developer - IBM Workplace Web Content Management 2.5, the qualifying exam is Exam 831: Developing Web Sites using IBM Workplace Management 2.5. These exams replace the IBM Workplace 2.0 exams.

Previous Version of Network+ to Retire This Month
As announced on May 1, CompTIA previous version of Network+ (N10-002) will be permanently retired on Jun 30, 2005. A new version (N10-003) is already available.
