Reduced Cost OMG Embedded System Beta Exams Available
The Object Management Group (OMG) is offering a 60% discount on the beta versions of exams which lead to the OMG Certified Real-time Embedded Specialist (OCRES) certification. There are three exams required to achieve the advanced certification, two for intermediate. You can take the exams in any order. The exams are Certified UML Professional (OCUP) Fundamental, OCRES Intermediate, and OCRES advanced. The Fundamental exam has been available for some time; it is the intermediate and advanced exams that are involved in the beta offer. The beta dates are as follows:

Intermediate: June 5, 2006 - July 7, 2006
Advanced: June 26, 2006 - July 28, 2006

Several Cisco Specialist Exams to Retire
Cisco has announced that the Cisco Access Routing & LAN Switching Specialist certification will retire on July 19, 2006. The same date is the last day to register for the required exams. The Wireless LAN Design Specialist and Support Specialist exams will retire on June 14, 2006.

IBM Releases Several New Certifications
Recently released certifications from IBM include: IBM Certified Solution Designer - IBM Rational Manual Tester, an intermediate level designation for individuals who setup, configure and create a manual testing framework with Rational Manual Tester, and IBM Certified Business Process Analyst - WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced V6.0 which is intended for intermediate level business process analysts who design business models and processes.

Batch of Nortel Symposium Designations Ready to Retire
Nortel Networks has announced the retirement of a number of Symposium certification as of December 31, 2006. Retired designations include: NCDS-Symposium Contact Center; NCSE-Contact Center; NCSS-Symposium Call Center Server; NCSS - Symposium Call Center TAPI/Agent; NCSS - Symposium Call Center TAPI/Agent Installation & Maintenance; NCSS - Symposium Web Center Portal; and NCSS - Nortel Communication Control Toolkit Rls. 5.0.

Brocade Releases Updated BCFP Exam
Effective May 25, 2006 Brocade released an updated version of its Brocade Certified Fabric Professional (BCFP) exam (143-050). The new exam covers the 4 Gbit/sec SilkWorm product line. Since Brocade certifications are version specific, current BCFP certified professionals are not required to upgrade.
