Three Windows Vista Exams Delayed, One Goes Live

Microsoft recently announced that three of the forthcoming MCITP (Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional) exams for Windows Vista will be delayed into May in order to add more content to the exams. Affected exams include 70-621: Upgrading your MCDST Certification to MCITP Enterprise Support, 70-622: Microsoft Desktop Support - Enterprise, and 70-623: Microsoft Desktop Support - Consumer. The Technology specialist (MCITS) Exam 70-624: Deploying and Maintaining Vista Client and Office System 2007 Desktops went live yesterday, as planned.

New Java Certification from SUN

Sun has Microsystems has just released its newest certification and exam for Enterprise Edition 5. The Sun Certified Business Component Developer for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5.0 (CX-310-091) is for advanced programmers and developers with extensive job-role experience in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and integrating Enterprise JavaBeans EJB Edition 3.0. The exam consists of 61 questions, has a passing score of 59%, and has a time limit of 145 questions. It costs $200. See the Sun website for full objectives.

Cognos Plans Revamp of Certification Program, Drops Online Exams

With the move to certification for Cognos 8, the Cognos certification program will be modified to follow the current trend of certifying for job roles rather than on specific product levels as it does now. In conjunction with this change, Cognos recently announced plans to discontinue its online certification testing and switch over to proctored certification testing only. The current online exams will be removed on June 29, 2007. After that point, you will only be able to certify on Cognos 8.

Latest IBM Exam Retirement

The latest exam retirement announcement from IBM is for Exam 821: Implementing and Administering IBM Workplace Collaboration Services 2.5: Messaging which will be retired on August 31, 2007.

New Nortel Specialist Certifications

Several new Nortel Support and Design Specialist certifications have just hit testing centers. The new designations include NCDS - Nortel WLAN 2300 Rls. 5.0 Solutions, NCSS - Nortel WLAN 2300 Rls. 5.0 Implementation & Management, NCSS - Optical Metro 3500 Operations and Maintenance, and NCDS - Carrier VoIP Solution Engineering & Performance. Each of these requires passing a single exam, except for the last one which requires two exams.
