Oracle, Citrix to Change Test Vendors
Oracle has announced that it will no longer offer its certification exams through Prometric centers starting September 25, 2009. They haven't exactly said who will replace Prometric, only that negotiations are in the works, and that the new vendor will be announced soon. Citrix also changed test vendors this month, moving on the 1st from offering exams through both Prometric and VUE networks to VUE only. Test vouchers issued by Prometric will still work under the new systems for both Oracle and Citrix.

New CIW Security Certification
The Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) program has launched a new, foundation-level security certification. CIW Security Essentials certification validates basic knowledge and theory of network security design and how it applies to most enterprise networks. This is a one exam certification. The exam contains 62 items and has a 90 minute time limit. The passing score is 76% or better. An exam outline can be found online.

Novell Releases SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Certifications
Novell recently released new versions of its Novell Certified Linux Administrator (CLA) and Novell Certified Linux Professional (CLP) designations keyed to SUSE Linux Enterprise 11. As part of this, they are offering the CLA exam at 25% off (use promotional code CLA112009 when you register at Pearson VUE) through the end of 2009. The regular price is $125. The CLP 11 exam is not available yet. CLA objectives can be found on Novell's CLA web page.

Apple OS X 10.4 Exams to Retire
Mac OS X 10.4 exams will be retired on October 31, 2009. Tracks for both OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) continue to be available. Although Apple certifications do not expire, only the most current certifications are eligible for listing in the Apple Certified Professional registry.

Teradata 12 Exams Still in Beta
Beta exams for individuals who are interested in Teradata certification are still ongoing. Two exams currently available for registration are Teradata 12 Physical Design and Implementation, and Teradata 12 Enterprise Architecture. Registration for these is slated to continue through October 5, 2009, but may close earlier if all the beta spots are taken. Testing is through Prometric, and the exams cost $99 each.

That's all for this edition of Certification Watch. Please keep your certification news and tips coming to news@gocertify.com.
