BCS publishes timely new editions of bestselling business analysis books

New editions of two bestselling books - Business Analysis (3rd edition) and Business Analysis Techniques (2nd edition) - have been issued by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT to coincide with Europe’s leading independent business analysis conference which takes place in London from 22 - 24 September.

Business analysts must respond to the challenges of today's highly competitive global economy by developing practical, creative and financially sound solutions that will address business problems and grasp new opportunities. Business Analysis (3rd edition) edited by Debra Paul, James Cadle and Donald Yeates is an excellent guide which sets out the essential toolkit required. It is also ideal for students wanting to gain university and industry qualifications in business analysis and information systems, and is particularly beneficial for those studying for the BCS Professional Certificate in Business Analysis.

Important additions in this new edition include expanded discussions regarding gap analysis and benefits management, the impact of agile software development and an introduction to business architecture.

George Hancock, Head of Corporate Business Analysis, Allianz Insurance PLC says of the book: “An invaluable contribution to a fundamental profession, building on what was an already outstanding second edition. The book’s breadth, depth and extraordinary insight can ensure that any business analysis assignment is supported by expert guidance and latest thinking, helping to increase the chances of successful outcomes in any business.”

The role of the business analyst is to formulate options for a way forward and produce business cases setting out conclusions and recommendations. This professional discipline requires the widest possible array of tools and the ability to use each when and where it is needed. Business Analysis Techniques - (2nd edition) authored by James Cadle, Debra Paul and Paul Turner provides 99 possible techniques and applies them within a framework of stages.

This book complements Business Analysis (3rd edition) and offers a more detailed description of the techniques used in business analysis, together with practical advice on their application. This book will be of enormous benefit to business analysts, managers and to students of information systems and business strategy.

Christina Lovelock, Programme Manager, Health and Social Care Information Centre says of the book: “An excellent compendium of BA techniques packed with useful examples. BAs at all levels will discover something new.”
