CompTIA A+ Certification Exams Now Available in Thai Language Version

Credential is industry and international standard for ICT support engineers

BANGKOKCompTIA, the leading provider of vendor neutral skills certifications for the world’s information and communications technology (ICT) workforce, today announced the availability of a Thai-language version of its flagship CompTIA A+ certification, the industry standard for ICT support engineers.

This marks the first time that CompTIA has launched one of its certifications in the Thai language.

CompTIA A+ is an ISO/ANSI accredited certification that validates required knowledge and skills necessary for a career in ICT service and support. More than 900,000 ICT professionals have earned the credential since it was introduced in 1993.

Introduction of CompTIA A+ in Thailand is timely, as the country is fast becoming a significant player in the global ICT industry in areas such as business process outsourcing, database management outsourcing, programming, animation, digital content sourcing and medical- and biometric-related services.

The Thai government is moving toward more intense and widespread use of ICT. The “Smart Thailand 2020” vision includes goals to increase the proportion of ICT professionals in the nation’s workforce by at least 3 percent; and to increase the role and significance of ICT industries in the Thai economy so they account for at least 18 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

The plan also calls for the development of new ICT knowledge and skills which are aligned with the needs of the industry and the economy, according to Dennis Kwok, vice president, Asia Pacific Region, CompTIA. CompTIA A+ certification can play a significant role in helping to advance technology knowledge and skills.

“CompTIA A+ is the best, first step an individual can take to launch a career in ICT,” Kwok said “It is a comprehensive measurement of core competencies and knowledge that should be in any ICT professional’s skill set. It also establishes a solid foundation for future career advancement.”

Candidates must pass two exams to earn CompTIA A+ certification.

CompTIA A+ Essentials tests for technical understanding of computer technology, networking and security, as well as communication skills and professionalism.

CompTIA A+ Practical Application is an extension of the knowledge and skills identified in CompTIA A+ Essentials, with more of a "hands-on" orientation focused on scenarios in which troubleshooting and tools must be applied to resolve problems.

Benefits of Certification
Employers rely on certifications such as CompTIA A+ when hiring ICT staff because certified workers have a greater ability to understand new and complex technologies, are more productive and bring more insightful problem solving to the workplace.
A 2011 CompTIA research report found that 64 percent of ICT hiring managers rated certifications as having extremely high or high value in validating the skills and expertise of job candidates. Eight in ten HR professionals surveyed believed ICT certifications will grow in usefulness and importance over the next two years.

CompTIA Thailand provides resources and support for the country’s growing ICT community by working alongside local agencies such as the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) and IEEE.  to promote and grow local ICT skills in Thailand with relevant industry certifications. CompTIA also works with local universities, vocational schools, corporations and industry to bring these key skills into Thailand.
