Creating IT Futures Foundation Announces 2016 Class Schedule for Free IT-Ready Career Training

Nov 04, 2015 - Edina, Minn. — Building on its fourth successful year in the Twin Cities, Creating IT Futures Foundation announced its 2016 class schedule for the IT-Ready career program in Edina, Minn. IT-Ready trains and certifies information technology (IT) workers and helps place them into their first paid IT role.

The eight-week IT-Ready program is offered free of charge in order to help unemployed and under-employed individuals enter the IT field, which has a shortage of qualified workers. In the Minneapolis / St. Paul area, more than 150 individuals have graduated from IT-Ready since 2012, with nearly 95 percent earning their CompTIA A+ certification and 80 percent moving into paid IT roles with area companies after graduation.

Four classes for 2016 will be offered at Creating IT Futures’ offices in Edina:

  • Winter Session: Applications due by January 18; Classes run February 8 – April 1

  • Spring Session: Applications due by April 11; Classes run May 2 – June 24

  • Summer Session: Applications due by July 11; Classes run August 1 – September 23

  • Fall Session: Applications due by September 26; Classes run October 17 – December 9

Prospective students can attend a free information session on Tuesday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. to learn more about what’s required of students and how they benefit.

“Employers demand the best from their IT staff, so we put our students through intense training that requires them to be there every day, all day,” said Sue Wallace, Executive Director, Minnesota, Creating IT Futures Foundation. “Our graduates are committed to working hard and learning new things, so that they’re ready to work on Day One.”

All IT-Ready students also receive targeted professional development in key business “soft” skills such as professional communication and presentation, teamwork and collaboration, and critical thinking and problem solving.

IT-Ready students receive:

  • More than 250 hours of classroom and hands-on training,
