DANTES DSST Program Reaches New Internet-Based Testing Milestone

Baltimore, MD, December 24, 2014 — Veterans, active duty military and civilian students continued to take advantage of the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service-accredited DSST program to fast track their college goals in 2014.

The Nationally recognized DSST program provides a cost effective, time-saving way to use knowledge acquired outside the classroom to test for credit toward a college degree. More than 65,000 DSST exams were administered by Prometric in 2014, benefiting active duty and veteran service members, as well as civilian students seeking undergraduate degrees in diverse concentrations of study.

“Prometric is a values-based company, and we honor the brave men and women who serve our country,” said Michael Brannick, President and CEO of Prometric.

“We deliver DSST in more than 15 overseas sites for direct access by the U.S. military. We feel that DSST gives active duty and veteran service members and their families the opportunity to get back time they have given during their enlistments or officer appointments. Our goal is to help them advance in their careers faster, whether they continue in military service or transition to a civilian career.”

From the time Prometric began DSST testing, in 2006, the company has delivered over 350,000 exams. Most used DSST exams:

Principles of Supervision

Introduction to Computing

Principles of Public Speaking

Here’s to Your Health

Introduction to World Religion

Substance Abuse

In 2012, the DANTES DSST program reached the 50,000 milestone, delivering more than 57,000 exams and, in 2013, the program crossed the 60,000 Internet-based testing mark.

More than 1,900 institutions in the U.S. recognize DSST and award college credit toward a degree for students who successfully pass exams. Prometric, the trusted provider of market-leading test development and delivery solutions, administers DSST exams in more than 1,200 test centers in the U.S. and overseas.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, DANTES has offered and supported voluntary educational programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense. DANTES authorizes up-front funding of exam fees for eligible military and their spouses at all test centers where the Internet-based exams are administered.

The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE Credit) has evaluated and recommended college credit for all DSST exams. ACE Credit connects workplace learning with colleges and universities for formal courses and examinations taken in the workplace or other settings outside traditional higher education.

DSST is proud to support the 2015 Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) Symposium. Please stop by to see us in Anaheim, California, January 26 to 29.
