Eddie Schwartz to Keynote at ISACA Conference, Addressing Big Data’s Transformational Impact on Cybersecurity

Information Security and Risk Management Conference to Share New Approaches to Combat Complex Threats

Rolling Meadows, Illinois, USA (24 October 2013) — Eddie Schwartz, Verizon Enterprise Solutions ,vice president of Global Security Solutions, will deliver the opening keynote address “Embracing Uncertainty—How Big Data Is Transforming Security Management”  at ISACA’s North America Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) Conference, 6-8 November in Las Vegas.

Schwartz will address how big data is changing security management and will provide a blueprint for organizations looking to cope with the uncertainty of unknown cyber risks and will outline ways for organizations to succeed in the face of complex security risks and advanced threats.

“The last few years of tremendous losses due to state-sponsored, criminal and hacktivist activities have demonstrated the importance of an information-centric security model in which cyber security programs are closely linked to business risk,” said Schwartz. “Security professionals need to proactively plan for both uncertain and unknown situations, which can be challenging.”

Adding to the issue, Schwartz says, “Unfortunately in many sectors, security skills at all levels have not evolved and kept pace with either technology advancements or business requirements in terms of adoption of big data, cloud, mobility and social media. Our industry must address this critical skills problem, and ISACA’s work in this space is an important part of the solution.”

Schwartz has more than 25 years in the information security field and is chair of ISACA’s Cybersecurity Task Force. He is vice president of Global Security Solutions at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, where he oversees the company’s global security practice serving companies around the world through a suite of industry-leading solutions and professional services.
